OFF THE RECORD

I cuss a lot. In other news, I have adorable pets.

A little of this, a little of that…

I was going to post some really, really ridiculously cute photos of the kittens. BUT. I forgot to put them on my flash drive and bring them to work (because remember? I don’t have internet at home) soooo you’re shit outta luck. For now. I’ll do it, though, because those faces are too cute not to share. And their eyes are open! So they’re playing! And they’re adorable!

This week totally sucks. The boy is gone bear hunting so I’m stuck with the devils dogs on my own all week … which would be so terrible if it didn’t take me 25 minutes to go home. So now I have to make the trip to and from work twice a day. Yanno, to make sure the other couch doesn’t get eaten.

I’m thinking about buying kacijohanna.com. I know a lot of you out there own your domains, and I know next to nothing about it (other than the fact that I think owning kacijohanna.com would be really, really ridiculous cool) so I’m looking for some tips, pointers, etcetera. What do I need to know? What should I do? What shouldn’t I do?

  2. I think it’d be wonderful to buy yourself a domain. After my name change, I’m buying my name domain as well. It’s just a wonderful way to market yourself online and have something that is truly your own. I got my domain at namecheap almost three years ago and I haven’t had any problems since. Make sure you get some reliable hosting that offers MySQL.

  4. You definitely should do it. No one wants wordpress as part of their domain πŸ™‚ Then again, you’re probably bookmarked on everyone’s toolbars so maybe it wouldn’t really matter.

Either way, you can purchase domains and host sites on many different websites. But, you need both. I got my domain and host site at GoDaddy.com. That’s probably the most popular. The domain name is the easy part, you just have to make sure that your desired name is available. Then it’s like $10 a year or something silly like that. After you have your domain, you can either point it to this blog that you have now, or you can purchase a host site (which I would recommend). I would stick with wordpress as they have many more options and is fully customizable on WordPress.org instead of WordPress.com where it’s limited in what you do.

Then you can export all your content on here, and import it to the new site. It’s a little more complicated than that – so if you need help, you have my email and I’d be happy to help!

    Good luck! πŸ™‚

  5. Do it! It’s not so challenging to buy and maintain a domain, and it’s nice to have complete control over your site.

Also, I’ve been thinking of a new domain for myself, too!
